Tyre Care
Suspensions
Another very important vehicle system, worn or damaged front and rear suspensions can reduce proper vehicle control and handling, particularly in wet conditions, increase tyre wear, reduce driver comfort and safety. Our fully trained technicians will inspect & diagnose your vehicle suspension and issue a full comprehensive report on the condition of the front and rear suspension of your vehicle, including shock absorbers or struts.
Wheel Alignment
Checks:
Is your car pulling to one side whilst driving?
Is your steering wheel off centre?
Are your tyres wearing uneven?
Have you recently hit a large pothole or road obstruction?
Do any of these apply or are you not sure?
We have available state-of-the-art four wheel thrust wheel alignment equipment, only operated by our fully trained technicians using the latest technology to give you maximum tyre mileage. Correctly aligned wheels reduce rolling resistance therefore less fuel consumption, increased safety, driver comfort and reduced driver fatigue. We recommend a visual check every 6 months by our technicians, and for your convenience, our computer program will generate a reminder letter by mail or e-mail.
Wheel Balancing
Checks:
Is your steering wheel vibrating whilst driving?
Do you feel a vibration thru the floor of your vehicle, driving?
Do your tyres have uneven wear?
You feel that you have lost a balance weight of your wheels.
Do any of these apply or maybe you’re not sure?
Our fully trained technicians, using the latest state-of-the-art balancing equipment and technology, will balance your wheels to the very finest tolerances using correct weights as specified by the vehicle manufacturers. To ensure maximum driving comfort, reduce stress on front and rear suspension parts and increase tyre mileage. We recommend tyres and wheels are balanced every 6 months preferable with a tyre rotation. Our customers are reminded when this service is due by a computer generated letter by mail or e-mail.
Tyre Rotation
Regular tyre rotation is as important as wheel balancing and wheel alignment services. We recommend tyres and wheels be rotated at least once every 6 months. Your vehicle is raised and a visual wheel alignment check is made, any abnormalities noted &, if necessary, can be rectified before major tyre wear or other problems set in. Tyres should be balanced before being fitted back to vehicle. Having tyres rotated regularly increases mileage up to 50%. With each set of tyres purchased from Meadows Tyre and Auto Service Centres we will rotate & balance the tyres at no cost to our customers for the first service. Our computer generated program will advise by mail or e-mail when your next rotation is due.
How To Identify Your Tyres
The tyre side wall has letters and numbers to help you identify the tyre size fitted to your car, in this exercise we will deal with the important ones:
Brand Name: e.g. Michelin
Tyre size numbers: e.g. 205/60 R 15
205 is the width of the tyre in mm = 205mm wide
60 aspect ratio is a % figure of the height of the side wall of the tyre width
60% of 205mm = 123 mm sidewall height
R stands for tyre construction in this case a Radial tyre
15 is the rim diameter represented in inches= 15”
There are other markings on the tyre which are of importance e.g. load and speed ratings and these can be explained in detail by one of our knowledgeable staff members.
